Laser Hair Removal in Lahore: What Actually Happens, Session by Session

Laser · 14 July 2026 · 6 min read

Laser hair reduction is the most requested treatment at our Bahria Town clinic, and also the most misunderstood. Here is the honest version — what the technology does, what it cannot do, and the timeline we plan with every patient.

How the laser targets hair

A diode laser emits a wavelength that is absorbed by melanin in the hair shaft. That energy converts to heat and disables the follicle's ability to produce new hair. Surrounding skin is protected by contact cooling, which is why modern platforms feel warm rather than sharp.

Only follicles in their active growth phase respond. At any moment roughly a fifth to a third of the hair in an area is in that phase, which is the entire reason treatment is spread across multiple sessions rather than done in one visit.

Why South Asian skin needs the right settings

Higher baseline melanin means the skin itself competes with the hair for laser energy. Using a wavelength and pulse duration suited to deeper phototypes, with aggressive cooling, is what keeps treatment both effective and safe.

Every patient is patch tested and assessed before a full session. If your skin is currently tanned, on isotretinoin, or reacting to a new active, we reschedule rather than push forward.

A realistic timeline

Sessions are spaced four to six weeks apart for the face and six to eight weeks for the body. Most patients see visible thinning after two to three sessions, and meaningful reduction after six to eight.

Hormonally driven growth — common with PCOS — responds well but usually needs occasional maintenance sessions once or twice a year. That is normal, not a failure of the treatment.

Preparing for your appointment

Shave the area the night before; do not wax, thread or epilate for four weeks prior, because the follicle needs to be present for the laser to work.

Avoid direct sun and tanning for two weeks before and after. Arrive with clean skin, no makeup or deodorant on the treatment area.
